GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham said Thursday that former FBI Director James Comey should be brought before Congress to testify on how he handled his investigation into Hillary Clinton.
“He’s [Comey’s] coming one way or the other, if I have anything to do about it,” Graham told Fox News. “Let me tell you about Comey’s testimony. We now know that he had made up his mind to exonerate her [Clinton] before he even interviewed her, which is a bit odd.”
Graham said that Comey offered multiple versions of events, and the congressman is “suspicious” of Comey’s decision not to interview key witnesses.
“He told the committee that the main reason he got involved in July is because Lunch met Bill Clinton on the tarmac and he thought that compromised Loretta Lynch’s impartiality, so he sort of took over the case,” Graham said. “He also told some people that the real reason he jumped into the middle of case in July is he thought the Russians had an email between the DNC and the Department of Justice trying to rig the Clinton investigation. The real reason was not the tarmac meeting.”
“I can’t make sense of this,” Graham said. “I’m very suspicious of the timing. I’m very suspicious of the reason.”
When asked if he would subpoena Comey if he didn’t appear before Congress voluntarily, Graham said that he would.
