Trump Says Americans Tune Into NFL To See If Players Will Disrespect America

Donald Trump isn’t backing off of the national anthem issue in the NFL, firing off a handful of tweets Tuesday morning with regards to the protests and the display of unity by the Dallas Cowboys Monday night.

The president noted that NFL ratings are “way down” this season and linked the slump to Americans distaste of NFL players disrespecting our flag and the national anthem. However, Trump believes people are tuning in for the start of the games to see what happens.

“Ratings for NFL football are way down except before games starts, when people tune in to see whether or not our country will be disrespected,” Trump said in the first tweet of many. (RELATED: Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals Stand And Link Arms For The National Anthem)

“The booing at the NFL football game last night, when the entire Dallas team dropped to its knee, was the loudest I have ever heard. Great anger,” he tweeted. “But while Dallas dropped to its knee as a team, they all stood up for our National Anthem. Big progress being made-we all love our country!”

“The NFL has all sorts of rules and regulations. The only way out for them is to set a rule that you can’t kneel during the National Anthem!” he continued.
