President Donald Trump appeared on Mike Huckabee’s new weekend program on the Trinity Broadcasting Network Saturday, where he derided critics who found his behavior insensitive during a recent visit to Puerto Rico.

Trump visited the island Tuesday to tour the federal disaster response to this year’s deadly hurricane season. Puerto Rico was ravaged by two category four storms in the space of one week in September. During one encounter with storm victims, the president helped distribute paper towels by tossing them like basketballs into the crowd. Some found the display glib and disrespectful.

The president had a different, and colorful, read on the situation.

“They had these beautiful, soft towels,” Trump said. “Very good towels. And I came in and there was a crowd of a lot of people. And they were screaming and they were loving everything. I was having fun, they were having fun. They said, ‘Throw ’em to me! Throw ’em to me, Mr. President!'”

“So the next day they said ‘Oh it was so disrespectful to the people.’ It was just a made-up thing,” Trump added.

“You were a rock star,” Huckabee replied.
