Host of CNN’s “New Day” Chris Cuomo said Friday President Donald Trump made a “laughable assertion” when he gave the federal government a 10 out of 10 for its response to Hurricane Maria.
Cuomo discussed Trump’s comments with Rice University professor Douglas Brinkley Friday, with the professor saying they were a result of Trump’s twisted sense of humor.
“Donald Trump’s humor is off because it’s always about praising himself,” Brinkley said. “Just yesterday he said America was a 10 out of 10 in Puerto Rico. That he did perfectly there. And we all know that he didn’t do perfectly there. I think he finds it funny when he does that but it falls flat.”
“The difference is President Trump wasn’t joking when he gave himself a 10 out of 10 in Puerto Rico,” Cuomo said. “Even though it is a laughable assertion. It is laughable, given the crisis in Puerto Rico.”
