Kellyanne Conway was in for a surprise Friday when a friendly squirrel seemingly got too close to her during an interview with CNN.

WATCH:

Conway was on “New Day” to talk about a data firm employed by the Trump campaign reaching out to Wikileaks to obtain Hillary Clinton’s emails. Conway did not say during the interview if she was bothered by a Trump-affiliated firm seeking information from Wikileaks.

However, in the middle of one of her answers, Conway was interrupted by a squirrel — or was it a rat?

“God, I hope that’s a squirrel and not a rat,” Conway said as the squirrel apparently ran near her feet. “Hi, squirrel.”

“Better than the lawnmower that’s always back there,” Conway joked as CNN host Alisyn Camerota cracked up at the awkward situation.

Conway was conducting the interview from the White House grounds rather than from a studio, which explains why nature might be an issue.
