Facebook has labeled the Tuesday terrorist attack in New York City “The Violent Incident in Manhattan, New York,” completely skirting any mention of terror motivations.

The feature pops up when users mark themselves as safe and makes no mention of the words “terror” or “attack.” The suspect, 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, is from Uzbekistan and was living in the United States on a green card.

After running over a row of bikers, Saipov also hit a school bus before jumping out and shouting the Islamic term “Allahu Akbar.” He than began running through traffic brandishing fake firearms. Police later shot him and took him to a nearby hospital to be treated.

Thus far eight have died in the attack and at least 11 have been injured. The police officer who wounded Saipov was described as having “lit him up” by a police department official, and is credited with saving lives.
