Gigi Hadid has unexpectedly backed out of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show just four days before the highly-anticipated event will take place in Shanghai.

“I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year,” Hadid wrote on Twitter Thursday morning. “Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can’t wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can’t wait for next year! 🙂 x.”
Back in August, Hadid enthusiastically announced that she would be returning to the annual show with a throwback video from the year before in which she’s wearing some elaborate Victoria’s Secret wings.
The 22-year-old stunner didn’t offer a reason in her announcement on Thursday, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating.
Four models who were selected to walk in the prestigious lingerie show were denied visas to come to China for the event, according to People magazine. That too may have also happened to Hadid. However, many believe that Hadid’s absence is due to a Snapchat video Hadid posted months ago that some deemed insensitive to Chinese people.

Victoria’s Secret has not addressed the supermodels absence, but she will surely be missed on the runway.
