Former college football coach Bill Curry launched into a speech Friday that everybody should hear.

Curry talked about traveling to a game for ESPN shortly after 9/11 happened when he was reminded why people love football in this country. Most importantly, he talked about the lessons that can be learned from the sport.

“It means a lot in America because on Friday nights the community huddles. People sit together that never sit together the rest of the week, and when somebody’s son scores a touchdown the most unlikely hugs occur. Those children that have been raised to hate each other by the sick folks in our culture they get in the locker room, get in the huddle and they learn to love each other,” Curry said in part during an ESPN appearance Friday.

Who is ready to run through a brick wall? Curry’s speech should be played on a loop until people in this country can learn to calm down and get along together.

His words are a beautiful reminder why sports more a lot more than just executing plays on the field.
