President Donald Trump spoke with Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore over the phone Monday after endorsing his campaign.

Moore has been accused by several women of sexual misconduct when they were in their teens and Moore, now 70, was in his thirties. Trump, who himself has faced accusations of sexual harassment, rebuffed the Republican establishment with his endorsement of Moore.

“Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more,” Trump tweeted in support of a candidate the Republican National Committee pulled its funding from.

He later spoke over the phone with Moore in a call the White House called “positive.”

The Moore campaign put out a statement with additional details about the conversation. “President Trump called Judge Moore a ‘fighter’ and expressed his eagerness to have Judge Moore fighting for his agenda in Washington. The President wrapped up the call with a ‘go get ’em, Roy!'”

A recent CBS poll showed Moore ahead of his Democratic opponent Doug Jones by six percent. The poll found that over 70 percent of Republicans don’t believe the sexual misconduct allegations against Moore.

The Alabama special election will take place on Dec. 12, and Trump will be holding a rally just across the state border in Pensacola, Florida on Friday.
