Andrea Mitchell joined Chris Matthews in insisting that President Trump decide to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in part to benefit Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Alabama Roy Moore.

Trump made the move Wednesday because the White House “wanted to get this out before Alabama.”

“This was timed because of the waiver, but they wanted to get this out before Alabama. There is a large evangelical vote down there,” Mitchell said about the U.S. embassy move to Jerusalem.

“This is basically going to the evangelical Republicans and Sheldon Adelson,” Mitchell continued.

Matthews said the same thing on Wednesday. (RELATED: Chris Matthews: Trump Is Moving Capital To Jerusalem For Roy Moore)

“Don’t think this isn’t related to Alabama next week,” Matthews said. “It is related. It is the Christian evangelicals down there with their crazy ideas about Israel, which is, I don’t know, mythical,” Matthews stated. Joe Scarborough then promptly agreed.
