He once starred in the 1995 film “St. Elmo’s Fire”, but now actor Rob Lowe has taken on a new role: fighting fires.
The Thomas Fire has burned through 270,000 acres in Southern California over the past two weeks.
When fire crews showed up to Lowe’s home in Santa Barbara, he didn’t just want to be a spectator. Instead, the 53-year-old suited up in firefighting gear and helped out.
The comradery didn’t end there for Rob Lowe and the fire team. After they were able to contain more of the wildfire, he invited all of them into his home for dinner.
Lowe offered his appreciation to the firefighters in an Instagram post caption saying “Thank you to all the crews from all over the country who stood tall and saved my town.”
The Thomas Fire is now the third-largest California wildfire on record.
