Elon Musk accidentally tweeted out his phone number for his nearly 17 million followers to see.
At least that’s how the story goes.
On December 19 at exactly 12:58 PM, Elon Musk tweeted to John Carmack, “Do you have a sec to talk? My cell is ______.” Carmack is the CTO of Oculus, which is a Facebook-owned virtual reality enterprise. People immediately began to speculate that Musk was “trying to poach Carmack for one of his companies,” but judging by this glorious internet mishap he probably can’t even poach an egg.
The tweet has since been deleted and his number has been blurred out but the damage was done.

His voicemail is a recording bit from the Playstation game “God Of War.”
I’m not even gonna say he’s a nerd because nerds are too smart to TWEET OUT their phone numbers for all of the general public to see.
You’ve really gotta give this story a second thought. We’re expected to believe that Elon Musk – one of the most successful inventors and esteemed brains of our time – couldn’t figure out how to craft a direct Twitter message and somehow fired off a public tweet instead.
It was one thing when Sarah Sanders’ son tweeted out a bunch of emojis. That was both plausible and adorable.
When describing this tweet, @PressSec says “It was my son, Huck. Luckily little boys tweet trains & bridges & stoplights. It was Infastructure Week so it worked out perfectly.” pic.twitter.com/zVl901ylH4

But this Elon Musk nonsense? I’m just not buying it. Not for one second.
Let’s not forget, this is the same guy who came out a month ago lamenting about how lonely he is. He even asked a Rolling Stone reporter if he could set him up with anyone. I mean it’s just not a good look. And since asking random reporters for blind dates probably wasn’t a fruitful endeavor, he’s resorted to what has got to be plan z: tweet out your phone number and hope somebody decently attractive sees it.
I’m not saying it’s a bad plan. Plenty of normal people put their phone numbers on bathroom stalls. In fact, I kind of respect his game.
