Democratic Sen. Cory Booker tweeted a feminist-themed holiday poem Saturday, prompting some on social media to poke fun at the New Jersey politician for pandering.
The poem was a take on the “12 days of Christmas” but instead of turtledoves and gold rings, it demanded equal wages, an end to fat shaming and “no tampon tax.”

This is an embarrassing condescension to women masquerading as respect. https://t.co/6twpusHCnO

You would have to try quite hard to come off as more oleaginously phony and pandering than Cory Booker does. https://t.co/ncp7Y2ba9P

Others cited Booker’s frequently mentioned childhood friend T-Bone, who some have speculated may not exist. They asked if Booker consulted with T-Bone before sending out the tweet.
Was T-Bone your test subject for this tweet? https://t.co/ZYn9Js3ZtT

Senator, I wonder if you could ask T-Bone what he thinks about this https://t.co/xn3DUkhd4t

Finally, famous statistician Nate Silver took the tweet as a sign of Booker’s plans to make his own White House run in 2020.
He’s running. https://t.co/1ObigL7Jp6
