Republican Rep. Don Shooter of Arizona gave one of the worst apologies Tuesday for reportedly telling a woman his penis was a gun.
A Democratic female representative from Arizona recalls Shooter repeatedly referring “to his male genitalia as a gun,” and that the conversation made her “extremely uncomfortable.”
Shooter responded to the representative’s claims Tuesday at a mandatory sexual harassment training session with a joke about the #MeToo movement.
“If I’m going to be a comedian, I have to understand and be sensitive to my audience, not blame them when my jokes fall flat,” Shooter said Tuesday. “Members, I know you all want to thank me for my part in bringing you here today.”
The congressman is also accused of inappropriate touching, showing up to female colleagues hotel rooms uninvited with alcohol and asking female colleagues about their bodies in a sexual manner.
