A teen in Brooklyn, New York thwarted an attempting mugging by a man armed with a pistol, a video posted to LiveLeak Wednesday shows.

The teen was completely unarmed, but still managed to resist successfully.

According to the video description, the would-be mugger snuck up on the teen, pulled out his gun, and then demanded the teen’s coat.

The victim refused, and instead immediately punched the thief in the face. After a short scuffle, the criminal fled the scene empty-handed.

Police are still on the hunt for the suspect.

While this was definitely a commendable action by the victim, it was also pretty stupid. I wouldn’t risk getting gunned down in the street over a jacket.

That’s why instead of relying on you bare hands, it’s nice to be armed yourself.

Of course this happened in the supremely gun-averse city of New York, so that explains it.
