Sen. Lindsey Graham said that President Donald Trump’s proposed military parade is “cheesy” and a “sign of weakness” during a Wednesday interview.

WATCH:

CNN’s Manu Raju caught Graham in the halls of the Capitol and Graham echoed the comments of Democratic members of Congress and media by comparing the parade to something usually by done by an authoritarian regime.

“I don’t mind having a parade honoring the service and sacrifice of our military members,” Graham said. “I’m not looking for a Soviet-style hardware display. That’s not who we are.”

“It’s kind of cheesy,” he continued. “I think it shows weakness, quite frankly.”

“The idea of showing muscle through a parade, I think, is counter to what we’re about and would actually be a sign of weakness, not strength,” Graham said. “Honoring the military through an annual parade, count me in. I just don’t want it to become a want hardware. I want it about people.”
