Former FBI Director James Comey’s memoir will be released sooner than previously planned, Flatiron Books announced Wednesday.

Comey’s memoir, “A Higher Loyalty,” will now be released April 17 instead of the original publishing date, May 1. The publisher said the date change has to do with the FBI being “under intense scrutiny.” The title of the memoir suggests that Comey will discuss his experience as FBI director and his relationship with President Donald Trump before being fired in May. Comey signed a multimillion dollar book deal with Flatiron Books in August.

Flatiron president Bob Miller and publisher Amy Einhorn said there was demand for Comey to be heard amid an “urgent conversation” about the FBI, just one week after Comey blasted “weasels and liars” for pushing for the release a memo which alleges that top officials in the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) misled a federal surveillance court in order to obtain a spy warrant against a former Trump campaign adviser.

Comey testified in June that during a private White House dinner Trump told him, “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty” while he was still serving as FBI director.

Trump said he did not ask Comey for a loyalty pledge, but said he doesn’t think it would be “inappropriate” to do so.

Fox News asked Trump in May if he ever asked Comey for a pledge of loyalty. Trump denied ever asking Comey the question. (RELATED: Trump: I Did Not Ask Comey For Loyalty [VIDEO])

“No, no I didn’t. But I don’t think it would be a bad question to ask,” Trump said, explaining it depends on the definition of loyalty. “Loyalty to the country…is important,” the president added.
