Jay-Z recently wracked up an unreal bar tab, but got a little stingy on the tip.
Page Six reported the following:
Then the group headed uptown to Made in Mexico in Inwood, spending $9,000 on drinks, including Jay’s D’Ussé cognac, followed by a stop at nearby nightclub Playroom, where — even though they were, by this point, down to a group of six — they ordered and paid full price for 40 bottles of Ace of Spades Champagne, which is owned by Jay.

The stunned Playroom server posted Jay’s check — which came to a whopping $91,135, including an epic $11,000 tip — on Snapchat.
I know everybody wants to ooze with joy over an $11,000 tip, but let’s hit the brakes a little bit. His $11,000 tip on an $80,000 tab works out to just above 13.75 percent. Can you say stingy? Tipping is a common part of going out, and it’s really not that difficult to understand. I’ve always been taught to tip 15 percent for marginal/bad service, 20 percent for good service and 25 percent for outstanding service.
Now, some people have told me today that 20 percent is considered really great and 15 percent is standard for good. What I do know for sure is that it’s a rough look for somebody with Jay-Z’s money to not even be leaving a standard 15 or 20 percent tip. Was the extra three grand going to break the bank for him?
Jay-Z is all about the flash, but apparently not to the point that he can be a standard tipper. Call me crazy, but if you have the money to drop $80,000 on drinks then you have the money to tip at least 15 percent.
And before everybody jumps down my throat, yes, I understand that $11,000 is a huge tip. That’s not the point.
