It’s been nearly 24 years since Kurt Cobain tragically took his own life, but his fans are still mourning his death to this day.
February 20 marks what would have been the late rocker’s 51st birthday, which seems an appropriate time to reflect on the impact that he left on his fans and the music industry as a whole.
Cobain rose to world-wide fame in a flash as the frontman of Nirvana, but didn’t last long in the spotlight after struggling with drug addiction. Following Cobain’s lead, the Washington-based band changed the industry forever with hits like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Come As You Are.”
Now 20-plus years after his death Nirvana’s hits are still played on radio stations across the country and covered by bands that were influenced by them.
Take a minute this Tuesday to reflect on the impact that this one man had on the world and pour one out for the late rocker.
