Rachel Dolezal Keeps Commercializing Her Fake Blackness. This Time With A Netflix Show
Rachel Dolezal, who gained infamy by pretending to be black for years, is getting a Netflix show.
Dolezal was born white but tanned her skin and changed her hair later in life to claim she’s “transracial” and identifies as black. She was able to work her way up to the presidency of an NAACP chapter before her parents confirmed she was white in 2015.
Now, many are upset Netflix is bringing more attention to her.
The trailer for her documentary, titled “The Rachel Divide,” received fewer than 500 likes and more than 1,300 dislikes on YouTube at press time.
The trailer depicts the decaying relationship between Dolezal and her son, who repeatedly says he wants no part on the documentary and thinks that it will “backfire.”
New York Times editorialist Charles Brown joined many on Twitter slamming the show.
Oh hell no! When PERFORMING blackness gets moreattention than actually BEING BLACK https://t.co/2H8oTqFLPQ
