CBS has renewed its hit show “SEAL Team” for a second season.

The Hollywood Reporter reported:

CBS is keeping both of its rookie military dramas around.

The network on Tuesday announced that it has handed out early second-season renewals for SEAL Team and SWAT.

SEAL Team, meanwhile, is from CBS Television Studios and is executive produced by Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, with the latter duo this week leaving their longtime home at the studio for a deal with ABC. David Boreanaz stars in the drama, which marks his fourth straight broadcast hit following Buffy the Vampire Slayer, spinoff Angel and Fox’s Bones.

I have been huge on this show ever since I saw the first episode. “SEAL Team” is one of the coolest shows on television, and I’m happy it’s getting a second season.

This show is just about a bunch of meathead SEALs cracking skulls. It really humanizes the conflicts and trouble our top guys face. There’s clearly not just a switch they can flip if they want to no longer be Navy SEALs during conflict. Yes, this show has tons of awesome action, but that’s not what makes the show great

Plenty of other shows have been heavy on the action, but lacked substance. “SEAL Team” is more about the substance, the emotional conflicts, the personal lives, the moral dilemmas, being there for your teammates and some great action is mixed in along the way.

The proof that this show is great is that you could remove all the firefight scenes, and it’d still be worth watching. How many other action shows can say the same? Not many.

Season one has been a hell of a fun ride, and I look forward to seeing what we get from the guys in season two.
