Chris Evans was clearly shaken up after hearing that a special fan of his passed away Tuesday and posted a message on Twitter to pay tribute to him.
“Damon had the kind of strength I only pretend to have on screen,” the “Captain America” star wrote on Twitter. “He was a true warrior. Brave, selfless, compassionate, and proud. I feel so grateful for his friendship. Sending all my love to you and your family, Brian.”

Last year Evans discovered that Damon, who was a huge fan of his, was fighting cancer. The 36-year-old actor reached out to the young fan and exchanged several inspiring messages with him, People reports. Sadly, the young fan finally lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, which his father announced on Twitter.
“‘Agent Damon is Down!,'” his father Brian began with an “Avengers” reference for his son. “Damon lost his battle with Cancer at 11:26am. Thank you for the Love, prayers & support everyone!” he wrote. “Damon was the TRUE embodiment of Captain America.”
