Johnny Manziel made a very interesting comment about the Cleveland Browns during a Wednesday appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show.”
“If Cleveland did any of their homework they would have known I wasn’t a guy who came in every day and watch film. I wasn’t a guy who really knew the Xs and Os of football,” Manziel told Dan Patrick, according to Andrew Perloff.

One thing to clarify, Johnny said he didn’t know X’s and O’s in large part because his offense at Texas A&M was so different than what the Browns were running. I’m sure he’s not alone in that regard. https://t.co/eEXW3a0ubc

This is an incredible quote for a ton of different reasons. First off, he’s going to get ripped for saying it, but I love the honestly. Most quarterbacks would never admit being this ignorant about an offense, and Manziel is just casually telling the world he had no idea.
I’m sure some idiots will look at this as proof that Manziel has no business being in the NFL. I don’t. It appears to be more of a sign of maturing.
What’s way funnier is that the Cleveland Browns allowed this to happen. NFL teams have an endless stream of resources, and it wouldn’t have been hard to find out at all how much time Manziel spent committed to football. Could have been figured out in a matter of hours with a few phone calls. Johnny Football is sort of saying in a not so subtle way that the Browns have nobody to blame but themselves, which is true in a large part.
I guess it’s probably why so many scouts knew they were screwed after drafting him.
Favorite story about this I heard from someone who will remain anonymous:
When the Browns drafted Manziel, this guy received a text from a Browns scout simply saying, “Welp, we’re all going to lose our jobs” https://t.co/I2W1nTLmmW

The saga never stops being entertaining.
