President Donald Trump blasted Bashar Al-Assad during Monday White House remarks for an alleged chemical weapons attack the Syrian President carried out on Saturday.

“The Syrians hit their own people with banned chemical weapons. It was an atrocious attack. It was horrible,” Trump stated. “We’ll be making some major decisions over the next 24 to 48 hours. We are very concerned. When a thing like that can happen — we’re talking about humanity. It can’t be allowed to happen. We’ll be looking at that barbaric act and studying what’s going on.”

Trump added that a decision on Syria is “probably coming by the end of the day” and that “the Generals will figure it out probably over the next 24 hours.” The president’s national security council reportedly convened an emergency session to discuss responses to the attack Monday morning.

Trump struck Assad in the past for a sarin gas attack on civilians in April 2017 and said on twitter that Syria could pay a “big price” if it did not comply with his tweeted demands.
