Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta joined the chorus of criticism for James Comey on Tuesday, calling the former FBI director an “idiot” during a CNN interview.
Hillary Clinton and her staff have at least partially attributed her 2016 electoral loss to Comey announcing he was reopening the FBI’s probe into her emails. Podesta expressed some level of bitterness with Comey and his book tour on Tuesday, despite the fact that Comey has tried to apologize to Clinton.
“I’ve never attacked Mr. Comey for trying to do something that was for a partisan reason,” Podesta explained. “I think… to some extent it was his arrogance that lead him to make a very bad error of judgment.”
“I thought he was an idiot in the context of this election and that it was influential in the outcome and now we have someone who, as he said, is morally unfit to be the President of the United States.”
Podesta said he does not plan on reading Comey’s book and does not think that Hillary Clinton will either.
