A liberal billionaire financier itching to impeach President Donald Trump is announcing a slate of town hall dates in important states as the mid-term elections draw near.

Tom Steyer, an anti-Trump Democratic moneyman, will hold town hall events in Iowa, Florida and Colorado, among others, in May to prod voters into voting against weakened Republicans seeking re-election. His efforts are being met with tepid support from Democratic brass.

“We’ve seen more than enough to know Trump has met the criteria for impeachment,” Steyer wrote in a tweet Tuesday announcing the dates. “It’s time our leaders take a stand with us and we must all work to compel them to do so, our democracy depends on it. I hope you join me at one of our next town hall event.”

Steyer kickstarted his town hall push in March. Most of the 30 conferences he has planned will target district lawmakers unwilling to press for Trump’s removal. The meetings are designed to shame voters into holding representatives responsible for not doing more to push Congress into drawing up impeachment charges.

Democrats are a leery of Steyer’s anti-Trump bull rush. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, for instance, called an impeachment campaign impractical and suggested it distracts from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation and could jeopardize Democratic efforts to take back Congress in 2018.

Steyer backs Mueller’s investigation but thinks there is an “open and shut case that [Trump] has met the criteria for impeachment.” Steyer’s “Impeach Trump” tour kicks off less than a week after his political group, NextGen America, announced a $30 million campaign structured around pushing young people into voting.

He has personally plowed more than $163 million in the last two election cycles, supporting Democratic candidates and liberal causes, like fighting global warming — the California billionaire has very little to show for his efforts.
