Likely midterm voters in four swing states are divided on whether President Donald Trump or Robert Mueller is more trustworthy, according to a new poll.

The poll, which was conducted by Optimus and New Firehouse/Optimus, interviewed 2,486 people from Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Of those surveyed, 37.8 percent say the president is more honest and trustworthy than Mueller. Almost the same about; 37.3 percent feel the opposite. The remaining quarter of people said they were unsure. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.1 percentage points.

While these statistics are very close, breaking it down by political party provides a very clear picture.

When looking at Republicans alone, 58.8 percent say Trump is more honest in comparison to 17.8 percent said that Mueller is.

Comparatively, 44.7 percent of people who identified as independents believe Mueller is more honest and trustworthy, but only 25.7 percent chose Trump.

According to the study, the results of this question have remained relatively similar over the past couple months, but the number of independents who picked Mueller has grown. Back in February, only 38.5 percent of people surveyed who identified as independents, when asked the same question, chose special counsel Robert Mueller. Conversely, at the same time, 37.5 percent of the same people said that Trump is more trustworthy and honest.

The survey also asked people about whether or not they are in favor of President Trump and if they feel strongly about it. 41.9 percent of voters asked have a favorable view of the president, whereas 43.6 percent don’t. Furthermore, 70 percent of those surveyed had strong feelings about it – 32.9 percent strongly in favor and 37.8 percent strongly against. These numbers have remained relatively constant in recent months, according to this poll.
