When the US embassy officially opens Monday in Jerusalem, there will be a big message to President Trump in every direction.
The embassy move, announced late in 2017, sent shock waves through the establishment diplomatic circles and enraged Palestinians. The move is symbolic, officially recognizing Jerusalem as the undisputed capitol of Israel. Trump sped up the opening of the embassy by converting a preexisting American consulate into the embassy.
Before the major opening leading up to the big event, an Israeli group has made sure the Trump administration feels welcome in their new embassy. The group, ‘Friends of Zion’ has purchased all available signage leading up to the new embassy to declare one simple message: “Trump Is a Friend of Zion.”
Banners with that message hang on signposts all along the road to the embassy. A gigantic poster outside the “Diplomat Hotel” across the street from the new embassy declares “Trump Make Israel Great Again.”
The messages have been well- received by the contingency of Americans who have traveled to the Holy Land to witness the embassy opening.

Trump issued this message upon the opening of the Embassy:
“On December 6th, 2017, at my direction, the United States finally and officially recognized Jerusalem as the true capital of Israel. Today we follow through on this recognition and open our embassy in the historic and sacred land of Jerusalem.” #USEmbassyJerusalem pic.twitter.com/lne5FB7sB8
