In honor of Memorial Day on Monday, we found the ten greatest military movies of all time.
Hollywood has a long history of celebrating the incredible heroism of those Americans who have risked their lives and given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country. Stories range from everything soldiers must face on the battlefield to even what they go through after they have returned home.
Incredible pieces of work like Steven Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan” in 1998 put moviegoers on the beaches of Normandy in World War II in an epic nearly 30 minute long opening as “a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action.”
Picking just 10 of the greatest military movies on the big screen proved to be a fun challenge. But taking a look at many of the RottenTomatoes.com scores for the biggest war movies, plus a bit of our own personal favorites, we came up with the following list.
Of course the incredible story of American hero U.S. Navy S.E.A.L. sniper Chris Kyle, played by Bradley Cooper, in “American Sniper” in 2014 made our list. But check out the link to see if your favorites also made the cut.
We are pretty sure even the toughest critic would have to agree that these go down as incredible moments in movie and American history!
