Editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller News Foundation Chris Bedford made the case for President Donald Trump to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin again in Washington, D.C., Friday on Fox News’s “Outnumbered.”

“I think they ought to meet again,” Bedford said. “Because the last meeting didn’t go very well for the president and it makes total sense that he would want to meet with Putin again and try to get things on a better track, at least publicly.” (RELATED: Chris Bedford Peels Back Onion On Capitol Hill IT Scandal)

Bedford pointed out how Russia has been antagonistic toward the United States for nearly 100 years and this behavior shouldn’t be viewed as something that’s unique to the Trump era.

“You’ve got to remember that Putin’s been acting up for a while,” Bedford continued. “Georgia was invaded under President Bush. Ukraine was invaded under President Obama. The Russians have been meddling in U.S. Elections … for about 100 years. You ever heard of the Communist Party of the USA?”

Bedford also said Trump has embraced policies detrimental to Russia and should not be seen as an ally or friend to Putin.

“The things that Russia really doesn’t like is getting its compounds shut down in the U.S., getting sanctions added, getting ambassadors expelled, getting lethal arms to Ukraine, getting missiles back to Poland, getting natural gas to Europe, getting our energy markets deregulated and getting a stronger NATO,” Bedford concluded.

“These are things that are really bad for Putin, so I’m not sure how this president’s been a great help to Russia.”
