President Donald Trump jokingly congratulated a man grappling with how to deal with a boat that destroyed portions of his house after Hurricane Florence during a visit to affected areas Wednesday.
“Is this your boat?” Trump asks a homeowner with a flood damaged boat in his front yard. “Did it become your boat? At least you got a nice boat out of it … you wouldn’t want to cross the ocean in it.” pic.twitter.com/ZMUN1nDMqP

A White House press pooler traveling with Trump noted that the president asked the homeowner whether the boat belonged to him. The man said no and then lamented that his insurance company did not want to pay for the damage the boat did to the house.

“At least you got a nice boat out of the deal,” Trump said jokingly before making the promise, “We’re going to find out the name of the insurance company.”
The president continued to tell reporters “They don’t know whose boat that is,” adding, “What’s the law? Maybe it becomes theirs.”
