Christine Blasey Ford’s lawyer said that “no artificial limits as to time or scope should be imposed” on the FBI investigation into her client’s allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

“A thorough FBI investigation is critical to developing all the relevant facts,” Ford’s attorney Debra Katz statement read, according to a Time reporter. “Dr. Christine Blasey Ford welcomes this step in the process, and appreciates the efforts of Senators Flake, Murkowski, Manchin and Collins.” (RELATED: Trump Open To Senate Requesting FBI Investigation Into Kavanaugh Accusations)

“And all other Senators who have supported an investigation — to ensure it is completed before the Senate votes on Kavanaugh’s nomination,” it added. “No artificial limits as to time or scope should be imposed on this investigation.”

The comments came after President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered an investigation into Ford’s allegations of sexual misconduct against his Supreme Court justice nominee.

“I’ve ordered the FBI to conduct a supplemental investigation to update Judge Kavanaugh’s file,” Trump statement read, according to a White House release. “As the Senate has requested, this update must be limited in scope and completed in less than one week.”

Kavanaugh also responded to the news of the investigation, stating that he will “continue to cooperate.”

“Throughout this process, I’ve been interviewed by the FBI, I’ve done a number of ‘background’ calls directly with the Senate, and yesterday, I answered questions under oath about every topic the Senators and their counsel asked me,” Kavanaugh’s statement read. “I’ve done everything they have requested and will  continue to cooperate.”

On Friday, Republican Sen. Jeff Flake reached a deal with Democrats to make a request to open a one-week FBI investigation into Ford’s allegations.
