The cause of Verne Troyer’s death has finally been ruled as a suicide.

“It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today,” the statement read. “Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked toward spreading that message every day.”
And today, the medical examiners officially ruled Troyer’s death as a suicide — more specifically, “a sequelae of alcohol intoxication in a suicidal manner,” according to a report from the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office obtained by Page Six. (RELATED: This Is How Avicii Reportedly Killed Himself)
A friend who knew Troyer described him as “extremely upset, drunk and suicidal,” shortly before his death.
