Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders called President Donald Trump a pathological liar during Thursday’s presidential debate.
“[T]he American people understand that Trump is a phony, that Trump is a pathological liar, and a racist, and that he lied to the American people during his campaign. He said he was going to stand up for working families.” Sanders said, referring to what he believes are the president’s racist leanings.
He added: “That’s how we beat Trump. We expose him for the fraud that he is.”(RELATED: Sanders Campaign Promises Bernie Will Expose ‘Unfettered Capitalism’ In Debate With Biden)
Sanders was leading the pack of Democratic candidates before Vice President Joe Biden entered the race. Even before he officially announced his candidacy, Biden had declared himself the “most progressive” Democrat running for president.
Sanders, who ran unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016, has remained in second place since Biden entered the race on April 25. Biden and Sanders are currently the only candidates averaging above single digits.
