I’ll admit it, I’m an avid sports fan and really big into fantasy sports. In-case you are unaware, while sports gambling remains illegal in most of the United States, most states allow daily fantasy sports, where you pick players or teams of players to amass the most fantasy points. I have a league going with some of my coworkers and I’ve played dozens of contests at sites like FanDuel and DraftKings.. What I haven’t done in any of these instances is consistently win money! In the case of daily fantasy sports, I’ll pick the perfect roster of players I think are poised to go off for big games…and they do! But I’ll still lose by a few points to some professional with thousands of dollars who spent his entire day pouring over analytics while I was at work.

To say its frustrating is an understatement…which is why I was so surprised to find another player in the Daily Fantasy Sports market….a website called MonkeyKnifeFight, branding itself as a fantasy site for amateurs like myself, where pros can’t exercise any advantage over me.

How can they guarantee this you might ask? It’s because the way they structure their fantasy contests is different enough from others to raise eyebrows. If you are unfamiliar with sites like DraftKings or FanDuel, both sites feature head to head matchups where you will pick a roster of fantasy players to compete with someone else; the main problem being the person you compete against will often times be a pro who is playing the odds and numbers, participating in thousands of contests a week, and mathematically agreed to come out ahead….at your expense.

In contrast, on Monkey Knife Fight, your fantasy decision is simplified to a simple yes or no question set by the website. For ex. Will Dak Prescott throw for more than 265.5 passing yards on Thursday Night Football? If you think he will, you pick Over. If you think he won’t you pick under. And it’s that simple. No pouring over algorithms or salary caps to create your “winning team” just a simple 50/50 pick that can help you win….and win big. By picking multiple stat lines or events correctly, you can stack your winnings. For example, in the fantasy event below Over/Under, you pick if you think Mitch Trubisky and Dak Prescott will get over the passing yards listed….and if you get both correct, you win 3X your Buy-In.

I’m personally going with Over for Dak and Under for Mitch, but if you are a Bears fan perhaps you might think differently. Yet Monkey Knife Fight doesn’t just limit you to the contest mentioned above, as there are dozens of different unique challenges and stat lines you can try and predict, complete with different rewards for winning. For example, picking which of the players below will lead in passing yards, receptions, rushing yards, and receiving yards will result in 8x your buy in!
