The conclusion of President Donald Trump’s term in office means the future of the Republican Party is up for grabs. Among the possible successors who could claim the mantle of leadership is Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley.

The 40-year-old Hawley became the youngest member of the Senate after an upset victory over Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill in the 2018 midterms. He has since grown his public profile as a potential ideological successor to Trump who combines cultural conservatism with economic populism and eschews Republican orthodoxy, according to The Atlantic.
