The so-called “deep state” was among former President Donald Trump’s most consistent complaints from the start to finish of his administration, and now he’s done his best to use it against President Joe Biden.
Trump argued for years that career government officials working within the various agencies under his control were covertly working to thwart his agenda. Trump used the final hours, days and weeks of his presidency to make sure this is the case for Biden. It is common practice for outgoing presidents to appoint loyalists to key administrative positions to protect the administration’s priorities.
