REPUBLICANS TRUST THE SCIENCE MORE THAN DEMS… CNN: Vaccinated Republicans are going out far more than vaccinated Democrats

Zooming in on the vaccinated group in this poll, we see a massive partisan divide. Fully vaccinated Republicans at 31% are far less likely to say they’re social distancing than Democrats at 51%. This 20-point (51% – 31%) gap was closer to 30 points a month ago, but it’s still very much exists. […]

Only 20% of fully vaccinated Republicans said they were always wearing a mask when they go out. Among Democrats, it was 48%. The size of this partisan difference (nearly 30 points) is pretty much the same as it was a month ago, even as the percentage of both fully vaccinated Democrats and Republicans always wearing masks dropped.

AXIOS: Scoop: Fauci’s offensive against “craziness”

After becoming a top punching bag for the right, Dr. Anthony Fauci is defending himself with a sharp new edge, arguing that an attack on him is an attack on science.

What he’s saying: In comments to Kara Swisher on her New York Times “Sway” podcast, shared first with Axios, Fauci says: “It is essential as a scientist that you evolve your opinion and your recommendations based on the data as it evolves. … And that’s the reason why I say people who then criticize me about that are actually criticizing science.” […]

“The more extreme they get, the more obvious how political it is … ‘Fauci has blood in his hands.’ Are you kidding me? … Here’s a guy whose entire life has been devoted to saving lives, and now you’re telling me he’s like Hitler? You know, come on, folks. Get real.”

‘THAT’S A PRIVATE MATTER…’ Biden Says Catholic Bishops Won’t Vote To Deny Him Communion

President Joe Biden said Friday that he does not believe Catholic bishops will vote to prevent him and other pro-abortion Catholic politicians from receiving Communion.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) overwhelmingly approved a measure Friday to draft a statement discussing whether high profile pro-abortion politicians may be denied Communion. Biden took questions from reporters following remarks Friday afternoon, where a reporter asked him how he felt about the news.

The reporter questioned the president: “How do you feel personally about that?”

“That’s a private matter and I don’t think it’s going to happen,” Biden responded.

FLASHBACK… JAN 28… BIDEN ENDS ‘MEXICO CITY POLICY’… BBC: Biden allows US aid for abortion providers and expands Obamacare

US President Joe Biden has reversed a ban on federal funds going to international aid groups that perform or inform about abortions.

He said the ending of the so-called Mexico City Policy reverses former President Trump’s “attack on women’s health access”.

The memo orders a review of a Trump-era policy blocking funding for US clinics that offer abortion referrals as well.

FLASHBACK… MAY 31… BIDEN ABANDONS HYDE AMENDMENT… NPR: Biden’s Budget Proposal Reverses A Decades-Long Ban On Abortion Funding

President Biden’s budget proposal fulfills a campaign promise to remove a longstanding ban on federal funding for most abortions known as the Hyde Amendment.

The budget plan, released late last week, would drop the policy which has restricted funding for abortion through federal programs such as Medicaid. The rule, in effect since 1980, includes exceptions in cases of rape, incest, or to save a pregnant woman’s life.

Biden has been under pressure from progressive Democrats to reverse Hyde, which reproductive rights groups say disproportionately harms low-income women and people of color.

LARRY O’CONNOR: I Deny Myself Communion, So Should Joe Biden

Biden knows full well the teachings of our Church, and he knows full well that because of his public positions and advocacy for a practice that is unambiguously sinful, he has willfully put himself in a position that is contrary to a fundamental moral teaching of Scriptures, Tradition and the Church’s Magisterium. He is not in communion with the Church, and it is his obligation to not avail himself of the Holy Eucharist.

It’s not even a close call.

“A person who is conscious of a grave sin is not to receive the body of the Lord without prior sacramental confession.” That comes directly from documented instructions from the USCCB itself.

CNN OBSCURES FACT THAT A BABY WAS BORN AT JUST *21 WEEKS*… AND SURVIVED… CNN: The world’s most premature baby has celebrated his first birthday after beating 0% odds of surviving

A baby born weighing less than a pound has beaten the odds and celebrated his first birthday, becoming the most premature baby to survive, according to Guinness World Records.

When Richard Scott William Hutchinson was born five months prematurely — recognized by Guinness as the world’s most premature baby — his doctors prepared his parents for the worst.

Richard was born at Children’s Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after his mother, Beth Hutchinson, suffered medical complications that caused her to go into labor.

Born 131 days prior to the expected due date and weighing just 11.9 ounces, Richard was so tiny his parents could hold him in a single palm of their hands, Guinness said.

“When [his father] Rick and Beth received prenatal counseling on what to expect with a baby born so early, they were given a 0% chance of survival by our neonatology team,” Dr. Stacy Kern, Richard’s neonatologist at Children’s Minnesota, told Guinness World Records.

FOX: Laurel Hubbard is the first transgender athlete to compete in Olympics

A New Zealand weightlifter—who has competed in men’s events in the past– will become the first transgender competitor to qualify to be on the country’s women’s weightlifting team for Tokyo 2020.

“I am grateful and humbled by the kindness and support that has been given to me by so many New Zealanders,” Laurel Hubbard, 43, said in a statement, according to the BBC.

The report pointed out that in 2015, the International Olympic Committee changed its rules to allow transgender athletes to compete as long as their testosterone level is below a certain level and maintained for a year. The determining criteria — a maximum reading of 10 nanomoles per liter of testosterone — is as least five times more than a biological woman.

Some critics insist that Hubbard, who transitioned eight years ago, will still have an unfair advantage when she competes in the women’s super heavyweight category in August.

The Guardian, citing IOC guidelines, reported that athletes who transition from male to female are allowed to compete in events without surgically removing their testes. The paper reported that some recent studies show power gained during male puberty can last.

Hubbard lifted 628 pounds in two lifts to qualify in the women’s super-heavyweight division. She won a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships and gold in the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

KAMALA ISN’T ANSWERING DEM’S CALLS… FOX: Dem Rep. Cuellar says he has not heard from VP Harris on border visit(VIDEO)

Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar on Saturday said he had not heard from the office of Vice President Kamala Harris after he invited her to visit to the southern border — while suggesting the administration’s policies were at least partly to blame for the crisis.

Cuellar, who represents Texas’ 28th Congressional District, which includes 300 miles of the U.S. southern border, invited Harris to the border earlier this week.

“I encourage you to join me and other Members of Congress, while we visit with the people on the ground who deal with these issues every day,” Cuellar wrote. “I believe it is critical that you meet with local stakeholders and residents, consider their concerns, and use their lived experiences to implement more effective policies.”

Harris was appointed more than 80 days ago to lead the diplomatic effort to solve what the administration sees as the “root causes” of the migrant surge at the border — such as poverty, crime and climate change in Central America. Earlier this month, she visited both Guatemala and Mexico and announced a slew of measures designed to combat the root causes.

FOX: Nina Simone’s granddaughter says Kamala Harris ‘bullied’ her mother to the point she ‘almost killed herself’

Legendary singer Nina Simone’s granddaughter accused Vice President Kamala Harris of causing the family to lose control of Simone’s estate while Harris was California attorney general.

“Nina’s granddaughter here,” ReAnna Simone Kelly wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “My family doesn’t run her estate anymore. It was taken away from us [and] given to white people. Our family name was DRAGGED in the media. We get NO royalties, nothing. Wanna hold someone accountable? Ask Kamala Harris why she came for my family.”

“As I said before, Ask her why she separated my family,” she continued. “Ask her why my grandmothers estate is in SHAMBLES now. Ask her why we as her family no longer own the rights to anything. Ask her why she bullied my mother in court and my mom almost killed herself from the depression.”

A 2016 settlement regarding the Nina Simone Charitable Trust refers to Harris multiple times for her “primary responsibility for supervising charitable trusts in California” as state attorney general.

“The Attorney General asserts that [Lisa Simone] Kelly breached her fiduciary duty to the Estate and to the Charitable Trust and wrongfully diverted Estate assets. The Attorney General seeks to surcharge Kelly for amounts totaling $5,937,749.42 plus over $2.5 million in interest, which the Attorney General contends is far more than one-half of the Estate’s value during [Lisa Simone] Kelly’s administration of the Estate,” the settlement reads.

NY POST: Macy Gray calls for replacing ‘tattered, dated, divisive’ American flag

Singer Macy Gray is calling for a new United States flag that is a little more diverse.

Gray, a popular soul and R&B singer, said the current flag no longer represented “all” Americans.

“The American flag has been hijacked as code for a specific belief. God bless those believers, they can have it,” Gray, 53 wrote in an editorial for MarketWatch. “Like the Confederate, it is tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect. It no longer represents democracy and freedom. It no longer represents ALL of us. It’s not fair to be forced to honor it. It’s time for a new flag.”

CNN HEADLINE STIRS PANIC… CNN: Georgia removes 100,000 names from voter registration rolls

DAVE WASSERMAN, COOK POLITICAL REPORT: Once again, a major news outlet’s headline omits the rather important detail that *every* state routinely removes moved/inactive voters from their rolls as a best practice of election administration. (THREAD)

In a click-driven age, there’s a dangerous tendency to conflate changes that are best practice/required by federal law with developments that could actually risk election subversion. Given the stakes, it’s imperative for news organizations to be careful and clear.

AND THOSE DEM CONGRESSMEN WHO WERE SURVEILLED BY TRUMP’S DOJ? TURNS OUT, THAT WAS ‘INCIDENTAL COLLECTION’… CNN: How the Justice Department swept up records of two congressional Democrats and Trump’s lawyer

The subpoena that swept up the records of two Democratic congressmen, their staff and family members in 2018 appears to have been the result of a leak investigation that initially included scrutinizing a senior aide on the House Intelligence Committee, and not the lawmakers themselves, sources told CNN.

The Justice Department’s original secret subpoena to Apple, sources say, was an effort to identify people connected with the staffer. Apple provided names connected to the accounts the company had records for, including then-House Intelligence ranking member Adam Schiff and Rep. Eric Swalwell, two vocal political enemies of former President Donald Trump. This was potentially the first instance federal investigators knew they had records of the two California Democrats, according to the sources.

The revelation that the Justice Department obtained records of two congressmen and Trump’s former White House counsel Don McGahn, in addition to pursuing secret subpoenas targeting Trump’s perceived enemies — reporters at CNN, the New York Times and the Washington Post — has caused a political firestorm.

McGahn’s records appear to have been swept up in a separate investigation by federal investigators in a similar manner to Schiff’s and Swalwell’s, according to a source familiar with the matter. When the Justice Department issued the subpoena to Apple it did not know McGahn’s were among the records it was seeking, and the investigation wasn’t initially scrutinizing McGahn, the source said. It’s not clear what happened after Apple returned the records to DOJ identifying McGahn.

The circumstances surrounding the subpoenas are now the subject of an inspector general investigation and multiple congressional probes as lawmakers demand answers about why their records were secretly obtained and Justice Department officials seek to determine why senior department leaders say they didn’t know what was happening.

SHE’S AT IT AGAIN... Maxine Waters Claims Trump Campaign Helped Organize Capitol Riot(VIDEO)

Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters claimed Saturday that members of former President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign had helped to organize the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.

Waters claimed to Jim Acosta on CNN that she had been “told” that organizing for the riot had been going on within the Trump campaign. She further claimed that Trump surrogates opposed an investigation because they were afraid of being caught supporting those who swarmed the Capitol. […]

“Now they are saying it is the FBI,” Acosta prompted.

“They can say whatever they want to say,” Waters replied.

“Where did the money come from to send busloads of people in? Who supported them in all of this? … I am told that there was organizing taking place right in the Trump campaign,” Waters continued.

FOR YOUR RADAR: Violent crime has been spiking across America for more than a year. The issue has been at the top of the GOP agenda and constitutes a major portion of Fox News programming. We remember during the Democratic primaries that the Biden campaign was the most nimble when it came to defusing unpopular issues that titillated the progressive base of the party: abolish ICE, defund the police, decriminalize the border.

The White House has been very reluctant to emphasize issues outside of ending the pandemic, reviving the economy and passing its American Jobs Plan and its American Families Plan. So we think it’s notable that on Wednesday, President JOE BIDEN will be devoting his public events to the issue of crime and how his administration is responding to the uptick in violence. Keep an eye on this one.

Violence Breaks Out At Various Juneteenth Celebrations Across The Country

Several shootings and a riot occurred at Juneteenth celebrations across the country. The Juneteenth holiday, officially established on the federal level Thursday, was celebrated on Saturday.

In North Carolina, an EMS worker was shot while working at a Juneteenth rally in Raleigh. The man was reportedly responding to a child who was in need of medical assistance, according to local news station WRAL.

The first responder was reportedly walking back to the ambulance after helping the person in need when shots rang out at the celebration, striking both the man and the ambulance. […]

In Flint, Michigan, state police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a Juneteenth parade, The Detroit News reported.

The preliminary investigation initially showed that the officer was working at a traffic point for the celebration when a car pulled up and opened fire, causing the officer to return fire and strike the suspect.

While no one else was injured, the suspected shooter, a 19-year-old female, did eventually succumb to her injuries while at the hospital, police said. The incident is still under investigation.

A celebration gave way to rioting in Long Branch, New Jersey. Hundreds of people took to the streets in a Juneteenth celebration that quickly turned violent, the Lakewood Scoop reported.

HORRIFYING ATTACK ON MAN AND WOMAN NEAR CHICAGO PUERTO RICAN PARADE… SUN TIMES: Man killed, woman critically injured in shooting in Humboldt Park

A man was killed, and a woman was critically wounded in a shooting Saturday night in Humboldt Park on the Northwest Side.

About 9:15 p.m., the man and woman, 24 and 25, were in the 3200 block of West Division Street, when they were ambushed by up to three males who fired shots at them, Chicago police said.

The man, Gyovanny Arzuaga, was rushed to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The woman was struck in the neck and rushed to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. […]

Fragments of a broken red tail light littered the street near the memorial. A police spokeswoman said there was a crash before the shooting, leading a large crowd to surround Arzuaga’s vehicle in the 3200 block of West Division Street.

Arzuaga and the woman were ambushed by up to three men, who fired shots at them, police said.

Graphic surveillance footage purportedly showing Arzuaga’s killing was circulated widely online over the weekend, but a police spokeswoman couldn’t confirm whether the video actually depicts his shooting, which Area Four detectives are continuing to investigate.

The trouble in the park — and the question of what to do about it — has prompted hand-wringing among residents who live nearby. They consider themselves liberal, but now find themselves weighing their concern about the scene in the park against their own ambivalence about the police.

Many of them said they were in favor of having a stronger, more consistent police presence in the neighborhood but were worried that if they aired their views publicly, it would somehow make them appear less progressive. Some expressed fears about the apparent explosion in drug use in recent months, and one woman said her young daughter picked up a used syringe.

Carmen Gonzalez, a dog photographer in the neighborhood, said: “Once the sun comes down, the park changes drastically. It’s time to draw the line.”

Truck Crashes Into Pedestrians At Pride Parade, Killing One

A truck crashed into pedestrians at a Pride parade Saturday in Miami, leaving one dead, CNN reported.

Two pedestrians were hit at the Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade, leaving one dead and the other injured. Both men were taken to Broward Health Medical Center, according to the report.

The Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus president, Justin Knight, reportedly released a statement Saturday stating that both the driver and the men involved in the accident were members of the chorus.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the tragic accident that occurred when the Stonewall Pride Parade was just getting started,” the statement reportedly read. “Our fellow Chorus members were those injured, and the driver is also a part of the Chorus family.”

The statement claimed “this was not an attack on the LGBTQ community. We anticipate more details to follow and ask for the community’s love and support.”

FOX: Fort Lauderdale mayor faces backlash for calling Pride crash a ‘terrorist incident’ with few facts available

Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis is facing backlash for calling a deadly crash at a Pride parade in the Florida city a “terrorist attack against the LGBT community” before all the facts emerged.

“I hope @DeanTrantalis gets sued and then removed from office or defeated. Government officials shouldn’t be able accuse someone of *terrorism* so flippantly without facts,” conservative author David Reaboi wrote on Twitter.

The driver and the victims were part of the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus family, according to a statement reported by news outlets from the group’s president, Justin Knight.

“To my knowledge it was an accident. This was not an attack on the LGBTQ community,” Knight said in the statement. “We anticipate more details to follow and ask for the community’s love and support.”

Police said the driver was a 77-year-old male who had ailments preventing him from walking the duration of the parade and he was selected to drive as the lead vehicle. As the parade was about to begin, a 2011 white Dodge Ram unexpectedly accelerated into the crowd.

One man was killed and another man was seriously injured. The truck narrowly missed Rep. Deborah Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., who was present at the parade. It continued across all lanes of traffic before crashing into the fence of a business, police said.

ZAID JILANI: This mayor saw a car accident and then made a public statement — with no evidence — that it was a terrorist attack. That is unacceptable for a public official.

DeSantis Appears To Be A Popular Lead For 2024, Straw Poll Shows

Participants of the poll voted for 31 potential presidential candidates that they approve of for the upcoming 2024 presidential election, Fox News reported. DeSantis scored the highest approval rating with 74%, defeating Trump who came in second with 71%, according to the poll.

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz came in third with 43%, followed by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with 39% and Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott with 36%, according to the poll. Former Vice President Mike Pence came in 10th place with 21%.

Trump Wishes A Happy Father’s Day ‘To All,’ Including ‘Losers Of The World’

Former President Donald Trump released a Father’s Day message Sunday.

“Happy Father’s Day to all, including the Radical Left, RINOs, and other Losers of the world,” Trump said. “Hopefully, eventually, everyone will come together!”
