When Andrew Jeong found poker years ago, the excitement and challenge from playing the game motivated him to learn more. The more Jeong dived deeper, the more poker changed from a hobby to a passion, and his skills improved. Years later, he has started his first-ever tournament series at the WSOP, where he is currently ranked the #1 South Korean player.

Having begun playing poker at a young age, the experience that he has gained over the years and the intense study have made him a better player. Jeong has four cashes (money finishes) and one final table. He is going for the final World Series of Poker bracelet, with his most notable position being 8th out of 720 in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold ’em Event #13.

One of the greatest things that have helped Jeong cement his spot is patience and continuous learning. “To many, poker is perceived as a game of luck, but on the contrary, it requires skills and knowledge,” says Jeong. Without a clear understanding of the sport, winning can be difficult, which leaves you frustrated.

Additionally, Jeong notes poker is a sport that requires persistence. Like any other venture, not everything will go according to plan. On some occasions, you will win, and others, lose. To succeed, it’s essential that you are tenacious. Jeong notes that when he was getting started as a regular cash game player, being impatient cost him much, but he didn’t give up. He became friends with other professional players who helped him better understand the game and learn his weaknesses.

By constantly honing his skills, Jeong was able to play his position well and pay attention to others at the table. This also saw him climb up the ladder, and he has joined the 2021 WSOP tournament series.

Beyond poker, Jeong is also an entrepreneur and investor. He joined the business space at 21 when he started a branding and web development company in South Korea. Through hard work and determination, he has marked his spot in the US market, where he currently owns a franchise business and clothing brand.

Jeong is the founder and CEO of the Bonsaintz clothing brand. In addition, he has invested in South Korea Tourism and made investments in notable companies such as Corsair and BioMarin Pharmaceutical Company.

He says the skills he has acquired as a professional poker player and entrepreneur have helped tie together his career paths. According to Jeong, one of the biggest challenges he has faced running his business is being too trusting. At the start of his venture, he trusted the wrong managers, employees, and friends, which mentally gave him a hard time. The lessons Jeong learned helped him make the right investments and changed his general approach towards different things. This also helped him train his mind to think things through before making a move as a poker player.

Andrew Jeong’s years in poker are just the beginning. As his career takes off, he aspires to win hold ’em tournaments and expand his franchise business. His clothing brand, Bonsaintz, has been worn by people worldwide and has especially caught the eye of Korean celebrities.
