The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are slated to sign veteran wide-receiver Cole Beasley to their practice squad.

The signing comes with an expectation that Beasley will be promoted to the team’s active roster soon, according to NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo. Apparently, Tom Brady has had his eyes on the former Bills and Cowboys receiver star for a while now.

With a one-game suspension for the Buccaneers’ Mike Evans, and injuries to Chris Godwin and Julio Jones, Beasley provides some stability to a depleted wide-receiver group. Once Beasley gets the hang of the Tampa Bay offense playbook, he will be on the field helping move the chains for Brady and the Bucs out in the slot.

His addition will pay dividends for Tampa Bay as Beasley has a career-proven ability to get open and catch passes. Just last season, the 33-year-old tied his career high for rushing attempts and receptions during an NFL season with 82, according to Pro Football Reference.

If the Buccaneers manage to keep a healthy lineup come time for the playoffs, they’ll be unstoppable. They have too many players that can score for the opposing defense to handle. The addition of Beasley makes Tampa Bay’s already talent-stacked roster, even greater. If he stays healthy, Beasley could be the key in helping Tampa Bay reach the Super Bowl and most likely winning it.
