Law enforcement arrested the former Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sheriff’s deputy on Oct. 19 in connection with the unlawful sale of firearms that were allegedly used in a Sept. 27 school shooting in Roxborough, Pennsylvania, Fox News reported Friday.

The former deputy, 29-year-old Philadelphia resident Samir Ahmad, was charged with firearms trafficking and selling firearms to a person unlawfully in the United States after his alleged sale of two semi-automatic pistols to a confidential informant. The sale allegedly took place while Ahmad. who became a sheriff’s deputy in 2018, was still serving as a law enforcement officer, according to the DOJ release.

“The idea of a sworn public servant so blatantly undermining public safety is reprehensible,” Jacqueline Maguire, who heads the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, stated in the release. Ahmad apparently pocketed $3,000 from his gun sales. (RELATED: ‘Burn In Hell You Piece Of Sh*t’: Man Berates Darrell Brooks After Conviction)

During one of the sales, the informant allegedly told Ahmad that he was in the country illegally and that he could be deported if caught with a gun, Fox News reported. “You don’t got to worry about none of that,” Ahmad ostensibly responded.

Guns allegedly sold by Ahmad were used in a Sept. 27 shooting at Roxborough High School. Two suspects allegedly opened fire on the students on the school’s football field, killing 14-year-old Nicholas Elizalde and injured four other students between the ages of 14 and 17.

Police have arrested and charged three people in connection with the shooting and are searching for a fourth, according to a local NBC affiliate.
