A man has been arrested for killing two teenage girls in 2017, bringing the search for the murderer to a close, the New York Post reported.

Richard Allen of Delphi, Indiana, was arrested on Monday for murdering Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, according to the Post. Allen’s arrest is the first major update to the case that has long haunted the small town.

Investigators spent nearly six years looking over thousands of leads with no success before arresting Allen, according to CBS News. (RELATED: Man Convicted For 1996 Murder Of California Student Kristin Smart)

German and Williams were found dead near a hiking trail on Feb. 14, 2017, according to the Post. Their death was ruled as a double homicide not long after their bodies were found.

Allen entered a not guilty plea at his first hearing Friday, according to the New York Post. He is being held without bond.

Audio and video from Snapchat was reportedly located showing grainy footage of a man walking on a bridge near where the girls were last seen. German documented some of their walk, leading investigators to Allen.

In solving the crime, police were aided by Snapchat video recordings from German’s phone, which she had used to document her hike with Williams.
