- Sacramento City College is investigating emails sent by Professor Robert Crawford which opposed child sex changes.
- Crawford told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the school did not personally inform him of the investigation.
- “It’s disappointing,” Crawford told the DCNF. “I think more than anything, I’m disappointed that they’re not interested in … debate about the issue, they’re not interested in discussion about the issue, they’re not interested in … inquiry about this issue, they’re not interested in talking to people who detransitioned, they’re not interested in anything like that.”
Sacramento City College (SCC) math professor Robert Crawford, who is currently under investigation for sending all-staff emails opposing transgender ideology, told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Friday that higher education is run by “extreme leftists” and that conservative students and academics should “stand up” for themselves.
Crawford’s Dec. 3 emails were in response to an all-staff announcement about a Dec. 1 event at Sacramento State University titled “The Ethics of Providing Healthcare,” according to documents obtained by the Davis Vanguard. Crawford reportedly responded that “[w]e should stand against castrating boys and we should imprison any doctor who cuts off healthy girls breasts.”
“You have a little more intellectual diversity among the staff and faculty, but among the administration they’re all of one mind and they’re not intellectually rigorous, I don’t even know if I would really call them intellectuals,” he told the DCNF. “They don’t believe in free speech and they just want to push what they think. They don’t respect the other side, they don’t compromise, not only in this issue but in other issues. They’re not interested in compromise with people they disagree with.”
In his emails, Crawford also said that sex change surgery “is an evil that we should all be against.”

SCC launched its investigation into the emails and pledged to “take all appropriate steps to protect the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff,” but Crawford told the DCNF that he was never personally told about the investigation.
“They haven’t even sent me anything directly,” he claimed. “I saw a group email that was sent to all the faculty and I responded to the college President and a couple of the deans regarding my comments, but they haven’t responded to me directly.”
He said that the school’s response was “odd” because he was not personally confronted.
“It’s disappointing,” he continued. “I think more than anything, I’m disappointed that they’re not interested in … debate about the issue, they’re not interested in discussion about the issue, they’re not interested in … inquiry about this issue, they’re not interested in talking to people who detransitioned, they’re not interested in anything like that.”
“They’re interested in pushing their agenda and their viewpoint,” he claimed.
SCC declined to comment to the DCNF.

Crawford told the DCNF that he has long been an outspoken advocate against child sex changes and has authored and sent articles to his colleagues. He claimed that the administrators are more likely than the faculty to take offense.
“A lot of people will tell me privately that they agree with me and I get backlash from my dean, and maybe some others,” he recalled.
Similarly, he claimed that only one respondent claimed he was wrong about transgenderism in response to his December emails.
“I asked him ‘how does the person know he or she is in the wrong body if they’ve never been in any other body? How do you know you’re really a girl if you’d only had boy parts?'” Crawford said. “But I got no response.”
While he has not yet been told details of SCC’s reported investigation, he told the DCNF that he is considering retirement.
“They probably want to see me no longer around,” he said.
However, he claimed that more people need to stand up against the modern dialogue about child transitioning.
“We need to stand up. Those of us who have common sense … need to stand up and not let our children butchered.”
A plurality of Americans oppose allowing children to medically transition to the opposite gender, according to a YouGov poll published in March. Of U.S. adults, 44% opposed providing children with puberty blockers to stop sex hormone release, while 22% supported it and 27% were unsure.
