A man in Texas shot his girlfriend and then himself inside a Whataburger on Valentine’s Day, according to multiple reports.

The Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) responded to a call at roughly 7:38 a.m. reporting a shooting had taken place at the Texas fast-food chain on Baldwin Blvd, according to KRIS 6 News. Police allegedly found both the suspect and his girlfriend with gunshot wounds when they arrived. CCPD officers initially tied a tourniquet around the woman’s injury before bringing her and the man to the hospital in critical condition, the outlet reported.

“Initially, when the officers arrived, they found an adult female, probably mid-20s, had been shot. And the male turned the gun on himself and shot himself,” Corpus Christi Lt. Michael Pena said, according to the outlet. “So there are no outstanding subjects. Those two were in a relationship, so it’s not a random act of violence.”

The victim is expected to survive her wounds, KIIITV reported. The outlet made no update as to the status of the man. (RELATED: High School Teen Takes Her Own Life After Video Posted Of Teens Beating Her In Hallway)

“He had more serious injuries than she did, but hopefully everyone survives,” Pena told KIIITV. Police are still investigating what led to the incident.

The restaurant reportedly closed its doors after the incident and had yet to reopen by 5:30 Tuesday night.
