Famous actress Jennifer Garner told “Today” hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on Tuesday that she doesn’t allow her children to have social media accounts.

Garner explained how she explained the social media ban to her teenage children.

“I just said to my kids, ‘Show me the articles that prove that social media is good for teenagers, and then we’ll have the conversation. Find scientific evidence that matches what I have that says that it’s not good for teenagers, then we’ll chat,'” Garner said.

Fifty-year-old Garner shares 17-year-old Violet, 13-year-old Seraphina and 11-year-old Samuel with ex-husband Ben Affleck, and is firm on her decision to keep her kids offline. The audience was surprised to hear that Garner’s children don’t resent her for her decision.

In fact, Garner said, her eldest child, Violet, is quite content staying off social media and hasn’t put up much of a battle to gain online privileges.

“My eldest is grateful,” Garner said, though she admitted raising children without social media has been “a long haul.” (RELATED: Utah Becomes First To Limit Teens’ Social Media Use With New Law)

“I have a couple more [kids] to go, so just knock on wood. We’ll see if I really hang in there,” she added.
