A study published Tuesday ranked San Francisco as America’s worst-run large city.

The study was developed by WalletHub and attempted to rank America’s 149 largest cities by measuring the effectiveness of local leadership in regards to their operating efficiency. Researchers used key variables like financial stability, education, health, safety, economy, infrastructure and pollution to determine the results.

Shortly behind San Francisco were Chattanooga, Tennessee; New York City (NYC); Cleveland, Ohio and Flint, Michigan. The ongoing homelessness and criminal crisis in California could be a contributor to San Francisco’s ranking. But considering Flint barely has clean drinking water, the results may come as a shock to some.

Different cities do outrank San Francisco in certain subcategories. For example, Memphis, Tennessee, was ranked the least safe. However, as many crimes are barely considered worthy of police attention in San Francisco, I do feel these results may be heavily warped.

San Francisco also tied with five other predominantly Democrat cities (Denver, Atlanta, NYC and Nashville) for having the highest rates of long-term outstanding debt. (RELATED: Video Shows Home Exploding In San Francisco)

Just across the bay, Oakland also ranked in the top-10 list for worst large cities. The news likely doesn’t come as a surprise to many, since San Francisco and the rest of California barely manages to exist thanks to implementing policies that value criminals and crime over the safety and happiness of tax paying citizens.
