A Democratic congressman told someone to “shut up” during a House Judiciary Committee meeting on Thursday while criticizing his colleagues for their behavior on Jan. 6.

Democratic Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen was speaking at the Oversight of the Federal Trade Commission(FTC) hearing for examining the management of the FTC and its ethical practices under Chair Lina Khan. Cohen became angry during the hearing while talking about the events of Jan. 6, saying that his colleagues had no integrity and that they had acted inappropriately during a hearing Wednesday that featured FBI Director Christopher Wray.

“Yesterday, FBI Director Wray sat here for almost five hours and put up with continual questions attacking his patriotism and his judgment. It was amazing the hypocrisy that was shown,” Cohen said.  “And yet every member of this panel who was here on January 6th, 2021 knows that the government was weaponized on that day, as I say nuclearized, to overthrow the government,” Cohen said. “And yet they had the hutzpah, the audacity, the lack of integrity to question Wray’s judgment.”

“Is the gentleman accusing us of a lack of integrity,” Republican California Rep. Darrell Issa interjected.

“Mr. chairman, if you would ask whoever it is to shut up,” Cohen shouted back at Issa. He then continued to chide Republican lawmakers. “You don’t talk about roping a house where a man’s been hung. You don’t ask about membership in the bar association on a judiciary committee where there are members that never passed the bar,” Cohen asserted, criticizing  comments made earlier in the hearing.
