A brief tornado hit Charleston, South Carolina, Wednesday as the remnants of Hurricane Idalia moved northwards into the state.

A tornado warning was issued just before noon on Wednesday for Charleston and Dorchester counties in South Carolina as Hurricane Idalia was downgraded from a category 3 hurricane to a tropical storm, according the Post and Courier. A severe thunderstorm struck around 3:38pm over Magnolia Gardens, bringing winds up to 35mph.

The National Weather Service later confirmed a weak tornado touched down in the Goose Creek area, which flipped at least one car but does not appear to have done any more damage. The car flipping was somehow captured on video and shared by AccuWeather on Twitter.

It’s unclear whether anyone was injured by the extreme weather event, but it looks absolutely terrifying based on the footage.

Hurricane Idalia left large portions of Florida reeling after sending in a debilitating storm surge, coupled with 125 mph winds through Big Bend, Cedar Keys, Perry, Madison and other portions of the state. (RELATED: Stunning Satellite Video Captures Tropical Storm Idalia Gaining Strength)

As of Thursday morning, portions of North Carolina were warned to brace for potential storm surges, as well as flooding as a result of heavy rainfall. Most of the flooding is expected to hit coastal regions, but some river flooding is also possible.
