Police arrested a man Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted and threatened his mother before carjacking her in Miami-Dade, Florida.

The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Sutang Wu, rode up to his unnamed mother and her daughter in a golf cart while they were working on a farm, Local 10 reported Thursday. Wu allegedly requested the keys to his mother’s car so he could drive it.

Wu’s mother denied him the keys, which triggered a violent reaction from Wu, according to the outlet. Wu allegedly grabbed the woman and made her fall to the ground by yanking her hair. Wu then kicked and stepped on her while she laid on the ground and also attempted to strike her with a large rock, Local 10 reported. The second alleged victim, also unidentified, stepped in and shielded the woman, police told the outlet.

The woman agreed to give Wu her keys, at which point Wu got off of her, according to the outlet. The two alleged victims then drove back to the front of the farm with Wu following, so the woman could retrieve her keys.

Once back at the front of the farm, Wu grabbed a knife off a nearby table and forced his mother to the ground again, Local 10 reported. She allegedly pleaded with Wu, saying, “What else do you want? I will give you anything. Just leave us alone,” according to a police report cited by the outlet.

The other alleged victim offered to give Wu money from inside the farm’s office. Once inside, Wu allegedly intimidated his mother with a screwdriver and forced her onto the ground. He then took $2,000 in cash and left in her car, according to Local 10.

Police found Wu in Hialeah, where they arrested him and handed him over to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Wu appeared intoxicated during his interview with police, Local 10 reported, citing detectives. He also allegedly used an alias, claiming his name was Max Sebastian Perez.

The suspect is facing three charges, including armed robbery with carjacking, armed robbery with a deadly weapon and battery on an individual aged 65 or older. Wu was detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Thursday.
