After finding his 73-year-old mother dead near a creek behind her home, authorities are now searching for ex-NFL player, Sergio Brown.

Police say relatives told officers Saturday they couldn’t find Sergio nor Myrtle Brown, according to The Associated Press (AP).

Officers found Myrtle Brown’s body, and a medical examiner reportedly determined Sunday she was injured during an assault. Her death has been ruled a homicide, according to records obtained by CNN affiliate WBBM.

From 2010-2016, Sergio Brown was a defensive back with the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills. Brown graduated from Proviso East High School and went on to play for the University of Notre Dame, per The AP.

The brother of Sergio Brown took to social media Sunday to ask for help to find him.

“My brother Sergio is still missing,” Nick Brown wrote on Instagram. “If anyone knows where he is I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”

A neighbor of Myrtle Brown, Carlos Cortez, told CBS Chicago he last saw Sergio and Myrtle Brown together Thursday, while police saw chilling video on his ring doorbell. (RELATED: ‘Absolutely Shocking’: Champion Bodybuilder Dies Suddenly At 34)

“They seen him taking out the trash, and they seen him have a bonfire where he burned all her clothes,” Cortez said. “They said he wasn’t himself the last few months. He was out of his mind.”
